Let me start by saying I am almost computer illiterate. That being said, the thought of me installing my own hard drive, by myself, is unbelievable.
And without a doubt I am now living proof that if you really want to put in your own external hard disk drives, then you absolutely can!!!
Guess what? I did it and so can you. I realized I needed to replace my hard drive, maybe too many huge video files of the kids playing little league or the countless birthday parties, who knows?
So I went to my IT guy at work and asked him if he could do it, he sighed and then told me to go buy it online and watch some “how to” videos, thanks for the help. I did what he told me to do and first bought a hard drive that seemed to be right for my computer, a Mac by the way and it was pretty cheap compared to the local Apple dealer.
Why am I pointing out all of these steps??? Because I am non technical and if I can do these things…you can do these things.
Sure enough, a couple of days later, it came, so now what? Well, I went online and found a sick amount of sites that promised an easy installation if I followed their step-by-step instructions. And guess what? I did it. I felt like Jack Bauer in 24 dismantling a bomb. My fear level when I turned the on button was through the roof.“
What was I thinking? I’m not a computer geek” The one minute it took to boot up felt like a life time, but it worked. The fact that I saved some coin was secondary to the fact that I found a site that walked me through what seemed to be way out of my league. I advise anyone who thinks they need to replace a hard drive or was told by a computer tech to replace a hard drive to try and do it yourself, it’s really not that tough, I promise.
I know this much, the thought of even touching some of these external hard disk drives seemed like it was completely out of my league not that long ago, now, I can do that and a lot more…I suppose it’s all what you really want that you can do.
